Study Hall
Usually, seniors have study hall with other seniors.
Today, however the senior study area is off limits.
Someone was murdered in it.
Not too uncommon at my school.
Today I have to have study hall with juniors.
Devon and I were going to sit together, but were got there late, had to spread.
Out.
Luckily, the teacher was late, too.
We didn't get in trouble.
We got some scornful looks though.

The room is quiet.
Everyone is actually working.
The juniors are working that is.
They don't understand Study Hall yet.
Devon throws a wad of paper at me.
I'm looking at the door, it whacks me on the head.
All of the un-studying seniors were watching the paper wad.
An uproar of laughter filled the room when it collided with my face.
Every junior looked up.
Every senior pointed to me.
I don't know what to do.
Devon, sensing this and not wanting to embarrass me, throws another one.
This hits Robert.
The attention moves from me to Robert.
Robert and Devon start to throw things at each other.

I stay where I am, not watching the throwing fight.
I'm watching her.

I was going to watch the fight, but when I turned, there she was, reading her book, working on her work. I was so captivated by her that I forgot all about the structure of this story, and began writing in paragraphs.
Screw the structure, she was there, right in front of me. Just sitting there. Looking beautiful. She spun her pencil with her fingers while she read. Sometimes she nibbled on the eraser. I just watched her.

What came next, Devon later explained to me.
He said that in the midst of this fight, he saw her as well.
He knew it was her because I constantly pointed her out, and constantly asked Devon who she was. Devon also saw her friend, a boy. The friend saw me staring at her. He was going to say something to the girl.
That's why Devon did it.

He ran across the room, and his body collided with my desk. I slipped out of it before we both hit the floor, but I was injured nonetheless.

Regrettably I screamed in pain, but so did Devon.
Disastrous
A blonde girl, a girl I only know as a friend of the girl, ran up to us.
And guess who ran to help me….

The girl, the redheaded girl, ran over to me, helping me sit up.

Pain shot through my arm.
She tenderly held it, making sure she didn't harm me.
I was grateful for her gentleness, turned out it had been fractured.

Later, the next day at school, I saw her again, talking with that boy and blonde girl. She saw me and smiled, her friends didn’t notice.

I smiled back, and was so close to walking over to her, when…

"Dude, how's your arm?" Devon ran up to me, hugging me roughly, yet taking it gentle with my arm.
"Fine, your leg?" Devon had done something to his kneecap that made it sound a lot worse than it really was.
"It's fine man. So, are you going to take that Career Day test?" Devon and I slipped into small talk mode.
I wasn't going to, but Devon talked me into it.
Luckily, I took that test, because the next time I saw her was in the recruiting of those computer software guys.

And then, well you all know what happened
